Beginning January 1, 2013, all businesses are required to submit all new (or any changes to existing) <br />hazardous waste information online to the CERS at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov. Be sure to include your hazardous <br />waste activity in the Businesses Activities section in CERS in addition to any other relevant activities and required <br />fields. <br />This is a Class II violation. <br />301 <br />CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br />Various vehicles related to this business are parked in the lot outside and have leaked oil. Some of these oil leaks <br />have absorbent on them. These%oil leaks and contaminated absorbent have been left on the lot. Facilities shall be <br />maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous waste to air, soil, or <br />surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately clean up the oil leaks and <br />contaminated absorbent, and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and <br />supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br />This is a Class II violation. <br />403 <br />CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous <br />waste. <br />Inside the shop is a five gallon container with a hazardous waste label which the owner confirmed is waste paint. <br />Inside the shop is a blue 55 gallon drum of hazardous waste oil. The 5 gallon container opening was covered but not <br />closed. The 55 gallon drum opening was left open. All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except <br />when adding or removing waste. Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are <br />closed when not adding or removing waste. <br />This is a Class II violation. <br />601 <br />CCR 66262.34(d) Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br />Inside the shop is a five gallon container with a hazardous waste label which the owner confirmed is waste paint. <br />Inside the shop is a blue 55 gallon drum of hazardous waste oil. These containers both have an accumulation start <br />date of November 2013. These wastes have been on site longer than 180 days. Facilities who generate less than <br />1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste stored on site at any time may store <br />waste on site up to 180 days.
