ALLIED <br /> WASTE <br /> POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> POSITION TITLE:Mechanic(Heavy Equipment) EFFECTIVE DATE: February 2005 <br /> REPORTS TO:Operations Manager or Maintenance Manager/Supervisor <br /> SUPERVISES:N/A <br /> FLSA STATUS:Non-exempt <br /> JOB CODE:KAM EEO-1 CATEGORY:6 <br /> SALARY GRADE: <br /> POSITION SUMMARY:Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment to maximize safe and <br /> productive operations. <br /> REPRESENTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> The following responsibilities arc general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. 71c actual <br /> duties required of this position will vary. <br /> • Diagnoses mechanical problems. <br /> • Performs repairs and maintenance on electric,diesel and gasoline vehicles including compactor, <br /> excavator,and other vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations.Typical repairs include,but <br /> are not limited to,routine maintenance and repair of engines,transmissions,chassis, driveline,and <br /> body components,hydraulic systems,brake systems,electrical systems,suspension systems,wheels, <br /> tires and undercarriages. <br /> • Performs preventive maintenance and equipment upgrades. <br /> • Reads and interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders,communicates with supervisor <br /> and/or operator for clarification of problems and discusses preventive techniques with operators to <br /> minimize future repairs. <br /> • Completes paperwork associated with repairing equipment,documenting parts usage,and accounting <br /> for applied times(i.e. work order times versus time card tunes). <br /> • Completes daily consumables report to record hours,fuel,and oil usage,and provides information for <br /> input to Computerized Fleet Analysis system(CFA). <br /> Interprets oil samples,schedules and repairs equipment components. <br /> • Follows all safety policies and procedures. <br /> • Perform overhauls on gas or diesel engines. <br /> • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. <br /> TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> The following physical activities or abilities are commonly,but not always,associated with the performance of this position.
