d. Piping will be protected against freezing and corrosion and <br /> all dry sprinkler pipes and fittings will be installed so that <br /> the system can be totally drained. <br /> e. All systems having more than 20 sprinklers will have a local <br /> waterflow alarm which sounds an audible signal on <br /> premises upon water flow through the system. <br /> f. The minimum vertical clearance between sprinklers and <br /> materials in the area below the sprinklers is 18 inches. <br /> 4. Maintenance of Sprinkler System. <br /> The maintenance department or service provider will perform all <br /> maintenance and annual service which includes: <br /> a. The main drain flow test will be performed on the system <br /> annually. <br /> b. The inspector's test valve will be opened every two years <br /> to assure that the sprinkler system operates properly. <br /> C. Proper acceptance tests for systems installed after <br /> January 1, 1981 will include the following: <br /> 1. Flushing of underground connections; <br /> 2. Hydrostatic tests of piping in the system; <br /> 3. Air tests in dry-pipe systems; <br /> 4. Dry-pipe valve operation; and <br /> 5. Tests of drainage facilities. <br /> d. Records of all maintenance, service checks, and annual <br /> service will be maintained by the maintenance department <br /> and reflect dates of tests performed and services provided <br />
