$ ea yy <br />f •� <br />J U L 13 1992 <br />ENVIRQNMEiv f AL k T11 <br />PERMIT/SERVii,i_o <br />PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS <br />ON FEDERAL FACILITY AGREEMENT <br />' FOR SITE 300 <br />The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announces the start of a public comment <br />period on the Federal Facility Agreement (FFA) for Site 300, a testing facility for <br />Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Site 300 is located about 15 miles <br />southeast of Livermore, California. The Laboratory is conducting an environmen- <br />tal cleanup of contaminated soil and ground water at the site. <br />The Agreement provides a framework for DOE, the U.S. Environmental Protection <br />Agency, Cal -EPA's Department of Toxic Substances Control, and the Regional <br />Water Quality Control Board to closely monitor all Superfund investigation and <br />cleanup activities performed at Site 300. It assigns responsibilities to the various <br />regulatory agencies, sets general schedules, and describes the work to be done to <br />prepare for the cleanup. <br />The public is invited to review and comment on the FFA during the public <br />comment period, beginning July 10, 1992 and ending August 24,1992. Based on <br />public comments, the Agreement may be revised.
