Mainsite RCRA Permit Application LLNL submitted a revised Hazardous Waste Treatment and Storage Part B Permit Application to Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) on February 28, 1994. LLNL expects DTSC to issue a final completeness determination for the permit application by April 29, 1994. We also anticipate that DTSC will issue a public notice providing a comment period of at least 45 days later this year. This permit application covers ongoing hazardous and mixed waste treatment and storage at the Laboratory's Livermore Site. Most of the activities are already being performed under our interim status document. We intend to keep interested parties informed of this ongoing process and will soon be mailing an Information Sheet with more information. A copy of the permit application is available in the LLNL Visitors Center Reading Room. There is no executive summary for this document, nor are the 42 volumes convenient to loan. We can arrange evening hours for reading at the Visitors Center, if you are interested. This permit appli- cation is not directly associated with activities related to other environmental requirements established under the Federal Facility Compli- ance Act or Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act. M Tracking Chemicals Gets Simpler Supermarkets found that adding a bar code to a container makes tracking much simpler and more accurate. Now LLNL is doing the same with its chemicals. Yellow bar code stickers are now found on glass cleaner, paint thinner, oils, a variety of Laboratory chemicals and just about everything else in a bag, box, can or container.
