Inspection Report <br />Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories <br />Site 300 <br />Inspection date - October 28 and 29, 2003 <br />Waste Streams: Explosive wastes; and non-RCRA Low Level Radioactive Waste from HE <br />experimental testing and destruction activities; waste solvents, paints, oils„ and <br />other waste generated from maintenance operations; unstable laboratory <br />reagents and by-products. <br />Regulatory Status: The facility has three permits. <br />The EWTF operates under a permit for treatment of High Explosive (HE) waste <br />at Bldg. 845A/B OD/OB. This permit was effective November 8, 1997 and will <br />expire November 7, 2007. In addition the EWSF operates under a separate <br />storage permit for building 883, M-816, and M-1 through M-5. The EWSF <br />storage permit was effective May 23, 1996 and will expire on May 22, 2006. <br />A Post -Closure Permit was issued for Bldg. 829, which had previously been an <br />active and permitted HE explosive waste open burn treatment unit. The permit <br />was effective on April 3, 2003 and will expire on April 2, 2013 (Attachment C). <br />A Class I Part A Permit Modification for EWSF, EWTF, Bldg. 883 and a Class 1 <br />star Part B Permit Modification for EWSF was submitted to the Department on <br />May 10, 2001. In a letter dated March 28, 2002, the Department notified <br />LLNLS300 that the Class 1 star modifications should be resubmitted as class 2 <br />modifications.
