Mr Martin Harris
EHD requested three additional shallow monitoring wells as well as another deep boring further
downgradient of the former UST The additional wells were installed in March 2005 and are
discussed below
SITE ACTIVITIES
Activities at the site during the reporting period included the following
• DnlIing and installing additional shallow momtonng wells MWS, MW9, MW 10,
• Drilling and installing deeper zone well MW11D,
• Monitoring groundwater elevations in all site wells,
• Developing and sampling the newly installed wells and purging and sampling the existing site
wells,
• Analyzing soil and groundwater samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg),
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), and gasoline oxygenate additives
including ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dfchloroethane (1,2-DCA),
• Surveying all momtonng wells
Figure 2 presents a site map showing the monitoring well locations
FIELD WORK
Cone Penetrometer Testing
Under the supervision of a Ground Zero geologist, Fisch Environmental (C57-683865) advanced
one CPT boring (pilot bonng for MW11D) on March 14, 2005 utilizing a 25-ton, combination
direct push/hollow stem auger drilling rig A copy of the drilling permit issued by EHD is
included as Attachment A
Bonng MW11D was drilled approximately 150 feet downgradient of the former UST to
determine soil stratigraphy beneath the site Due to rod refusal, drilling was terminated at a depth
of approximately 32 feet below ground surface (bgs) CPT data transmitted from the cone tip
provided information on soil behavior by measuring penetration resistance, friction ratio, and
pore pressure Correlation of soil behavior to soil type was made electronically, based on a soil
classification chart interpreted by Robertson & Campanella (1983) A copy of the CPT log is
included in Attachment B
Drilling and Soil Sampling
On March 14 and 15, 2005, a Ground Zero geologist supervised the drilling and installation of
• four groundwater monitoring wells at the subject site Fisch Environmental conducted the drilling
using a Geoprobe 6600 direct-push drilling rig equipped with hollow stem augers
GIGROUNDzr\TuFEIIoylReporis1Q41R12005\IQM2005 doc
