Work with <br />various computer applications for reporting mechanical defects and repair, <br />mechanical timekeeping and material ordering. Ensure compliance with all <br />Mechanical Department initiatives in regard to safety issues such as rule <br />compliance, job briefings, stretching exercises and facility/equipment audits. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive knowledge of company operations relative to <br />mechanical department required to carry out the assigned duties, and <br />responsibilities. Thorough knowledge of FRA and AAR Rules and Regulations <br />and BNSF Policy and Procedures concerning rail car maintenance. Knowledge <br />of TSS, METTS, Millennium and AR billing computer programs. Effective oral <br />and written communications skills. Proficient in interpersonal, leadership and <br />managerial skills that stimulate a positive work environment. <br />Lead Carman: <br />DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees activities of Carman personnel. <br />Inspect, build, and repair freight cars for compliance with AAR, FRA and BNSF <br />Standards. Inspects car frames and car bodies for holes, cracks, and other <br />defects. Inspects all safety appliances including hand holds, still steps, grab <br />iron, brake platforms, running boards, etc. Inspect wheels to insure that rims, <br />treads, plate, hub axle, and bearing are in good repair. Maintain, replace, <br />and/or repair air brake pipes, valves, gaskets, air hoses, and other equipment <br />as required. Inspects outlet gates on hopper cars and air dumps for defects and <br />ensures they are properly secured. Operates electrical and gas welding equipment <br />
