Called the hospital and SC 944 <br /> obtained the spill information, was transferred to Garry Catchum with the BNSF <br /> call center(817-352-2833), who reported a gear oil spill from a train derailment at <br /> Stockton yard. The spill occurred around 3:40 pm today, reportedly, 1-2 cups of <br /> gear lube oil spilled onto the tracks, from the traction gear cage from one of the <br /> locomotives. Two locomotives were derailed. The site will do the clean up asap, <br /> (Christopher Ortiz, the mechanic onsite will be in charge of the clean up).At this <br /> time the crew is working on lifting the trains. The spill is 3-4"wide area on the rail <br /> and maybe some on ballast(gravel).Christopher Ortiz 209-923-0894. The <br /> environmental contact is Ryan Risdon 509-430-9497. 7:15 pm, called Christopher <br /> and left a voice message with my contact information. Called Ryan and left a <br /> voice message as well. 7:18 pm, received a call back from Ryan, he reports that <br /> they are working on lifting the locomotive at this time, 1-2 cups of gear oil spilled. <br /> Ryan will call back to update me once the train is lifted. Documented the <br /> complaint. 7:47 pm, provided a spill update to Kasey Foley (program coordinator) <br /> who recommended to visit the site. 8:30 pm onsite at 720 S B Street, met with <br /> train master who assisted in locating the train derailment. 9 pm, located the <br /> derailment site which is located closer to the 801 Diamond St. address. Met with <br /> Robert Saffle and Michael Maes with BNSF. The locomotive number BNSF4407 <br /> (which had no reported leak)was being lifted and the second locomotive <br /> BNSF7380 (which had a visible gear lube leak) is still partially on partially off the <br /> tracks. Mr. Maes escorted me closer towards the trains however I didn't feel safe <br /> for closer examination. Some tar like substance was visible(3-4" patch) and some <br /> may be on the gravel, it's was hard to discern. The tracks were damaged, bucking <br /> and lifted in some areas. The crew will work on lifting the locomotives and <br /> repairing the tracks tonight. Per Saffle and Maes the clean up will occur tomorrow. <br /> Provided update to Kasey F. Issued NTA, and furnished the NTA to Mr. Saffle, <br /> discussed the NTA and the requirements for the clean up. Generated complaint, <br /> started Prop 65 and ER record.
