Five empty 55 gallon drums which previously held a hazardous material or hazardous waste were <br /> I observed with no labels. Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material <br /> shall be marked with the date they were emptied and managed within one year of being emptied. <br /> jImmediately mark and manage all empty containers per this section. <br /> 50. A container of spent absorbent was observed unlabeled behind the used oil and used antifreeze <br /> tanks. The accumulation start date could not be determined. No disposal records were available on site <br /> for spent absorbent. According to the facility Mr. Bassi, they have never had spent absorbent hauled <br /> away. Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 <br /> kg of waste stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. Immediately contact a <br /> licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the <br /> manifest to the EHD by April 4, 2011. <br /> 52. At the time of inspection, it could not be demonstrated (not necessarily documented) that employees <br /> J who handle hazardous waste were properly trained. According to Mr. Bassi, no training has been <br /> conducted. The generator must ensure that all employees who handle hazardous waste are thoroughly <br /> familiar with proper waste handling and emergency procedures. Immediately provide training to all <br /> employees who handle hazardous waste and submit a copy of the training records to the EHD by April <br /> 1 4, 2011. <br /> Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification to the EHD by April 4, 2011 along <br /> with a statement documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation <br /> and any supporting paperwork. <br /> **Facility generated 8.64 tons of hazardous waste in 2010 and is being placed in a higher permit <br /> category (5<25).
