Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize <br /> the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten <br /> human health or the environment. Immediately clean up and containerize this waste, and manage according to Title <br /> 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was <br /> managed. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 403 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> Used absorbent was observed on the ground, uncontainerized in the tank area. All hazardous waste containers shall <br /> be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately place this waste in properly closed <br /> containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 404 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to inspect hazardous waste storage areas at least weekly. <br /> According to Mr. Singh, hazardous waste containers are not inspected weekly. Hazardous waste container storage <br /> and transfer areas shall be inspected weekly for leaking containers and for deterioration of containers and the <br /> containment system caused by corrosion and other factors. Immediately begin conducting the necessary weekly <br /> inspections for all hazardous waste containers at this facility. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(d) Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br /> A 55 gallon drum of waste absorbent was observed in the tank area. No disposal records were available for this waste <br /> and no records of disposal of this waste was found on the DTSC Hazardous Waste Tracking System. Facilities who <br /> generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste stored on site at any <br /> time may store waste on site up to 180 days. Immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of <br /> this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br />
