Chemical Manufacturing Processes
There are several chemical processes employed at both sites in
manufacturing the boards, and these are carried out in a number of manual
and automated process lines.
In these processes, various etching, stripping, and other chemical process
operations are performed on the boards. Each line consists of either a series
of open surface tanks for dipping, one or more closed spray chambers for
spraying, or a combination of both.
The various additive (plating) and subtractive (etching and stripping)
chemical processes used at this facility are standard established processes in
the industry and are necessary to manufacture these boards to the customers'
specifications.
Waste Treatment Processes
The chemical processes described above generate rinse waters, spent
chemical baths, and various other process solutions which require treatment
prior to discharge. The Waste Pretreatment System (WPS) treats this waste
by pH adjustment, caustic precipitation, and flocculation of the resulting
sludge. The sludge is separated through clarification and filtration and
recycled offsite. The clarified water is further filtered and analyzed for metal
content prior to discharge to the city sewer.
C. Time in Business
This division of Tyco Printed Circuit Group has been in operation since
1985. This facility began operation in 1985 as Citation Circuits, and was
purchased by Sigma Circuits in October 1995. Tyco Printed Circuit Group
purchased Sigma Circuit in July 1998
D. Number of Employees
Tyco Printed Circuit Group, Stockton, employs 400-450 employees at both
sites; 300-325 are employed at the Main (Fremont St.) site, and the
remainder (100-125) are at the Core (Field Avenue) site.
