r <br /> TANK REMOVAL REPORT <br /> BP GAS STATION <br /> 75 East Alpine Road <br /> - - -- — —_ Stockton, California <br /> September 26, 1994 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> On September 14, 1994,James Hoblitzell &Associates(H&A), General Contractors, removed <br /> four underground storage tanks(UST's) from the site of a former Mobil Oil and later BP gasoline <br /> station at the intersection of East Alpine and North El Dorado in Stockton, California. H & A <br /> retained Upgradient Environmental Consultants (Upgradient)to witness the UST removal and <br /> collect soil samples from the tank excavation. The UST's were removed under the supervision of <br /> personnel from the Stockton Fire Department and San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division. The purpose of this report is to summarize field and laboratory <br /> data regarding the presence or absence of petroleum contamination in the UST excavation. <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is the former location of a gasoline service station in north-central Stockton (Figure 1). <br /> The property was residential prior to 1955, when it was leased by Mobil Oil Corporation and a <br /> gasoline service station was constructed. The station was sold to British Petroleum (BP) in the <br /> 1980's, and operated until 1990, when it was converted to an automobile repair garage. The site <br /> was abandoned in 1992 and the building was demolished in early September, 1994' <br /> The topography in the area is flat. The area is zoned for mixed commercial and residential use, and <br /> most of the nearby properties are residences. A church and school are located to the west of the site <br /> on Alpine Road. <br /> According to the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District 1993 <br /> groundwater map, the average depth to first groundwater in the vicinity of the site is between 65 <br /> and 70 feet. <br />
