BoReTec"
2.2.8 Land Disposal Restriction Notification
When a hazardous waste is determined to be restricted under the "Land Ban," a
notification of the waste's inclusion in the disposal restriction must accompany each
shipment of the waste to a Treatment, Storage, or Disposal (TSD) facility. Examples of
land ban wastes that may be generated by Boretech include waste solvents, used oil,
and mercury -containing equipment. The notification informs the facility of the
appropriate treatment standards and any applicable prohibition concentrations. To
determine whether a hazardous waste has been banned from land disposal, it will be
necessary to review the lists of specific prohibited wastes contained in 22 CCR 661268
Article 3. Contact the Amec Foster Wheeler Project Manager for assistance with
identifying whether a land disposal restriction notification must be submitted. If a
notification is necessary, use a notification form supplied by the TSD facility. The
original form must accompany the waste manifest to the TSD facility while a copy of the
form must be made and retained with the generator's copy of the manifest for at least 3
years.
2.3 Waste Collection and Management
2.3.1 City/County Hazardous Waste Collection Events
Many counties and cities in the California offer hazardous waste collection events or
services for businesses that generate less than 220 lbs (approximately 27 gallons per
month) of hazardous waste. Participants in this program do not need to use and comply
with the waste manifest forms, and the fees are much less than transporting through
and to a commercial waste transporter and facility. Each County program has its own
quantity requirements and the local County Environmental Health Department, City Hall
or municipal waste facility may be contacted for information on whether such local
programs are available and what the transportation requirements are.
2.3.2 Management of Specific Waste Streams
Guidelines for managing specific waste streams commonly generated by Boretech are
provided in Section 3.0. The specific waste streams addressed in this Section are:
• Fluorescent Light Tubes and HID Lamps
• PCB -containing Light Ballasts
• Mercury -containing switches
• Used Oil
• Used Oil Filters
• Oily Debris
• Antifreeze
• Solvents and Degreasers
• Solvent -based parts washers
• Lead -acid batteries
Boretech Hazardous Materials & Hazardous Waste Management Operations Plan Page 117
