A generator
opting to manage spent fluorescent tubes as universal waste will not count these
wastes against their waste generator status or manifest them as hazardous waste
during shipment, and the storage limits and times are greatly extended. However, the
generator is not allowed to process (crush) spent fluorescent tubes prior to sending
them to a universal waste handler, transporter or destination facility.
2.4 Agency Notifications, Permits, and Fees
2.4.1 EPA Identification Number
Each business facility that generates, transports or offers for transport, treatment,
storage or disposal of hazardous waste generally must have an identification number,
known as an EPA ID number. Boretech has an EPA ID number. Contact Boretech
management or the Amec Foster Wheeler Project Manager to obtain the ID number if
needed.
2.4.2 Permits and Fees
A Hazardous Waste Generator permit is required for the facility. See Boretech
management for the permit.
Boretech Hazardous Materials & Hazardous Waste Management Operations Plan Page 118
