Gasoline Operations Manual <br /> In the.event of a small spill <br /> • Do not allow anyone to step in the fuel. <br /> • Clean up the spill immediately! <br /> • Use the Environmental Chemical Solutions (FCS)F4185-2 as instructed, or <br /> absorbent towel. <br /> • Dispose of all gasoline-soaked materials appropriately. <br /> • Do not use water to flush spilled gasoline into the storm drains. This is both <br /> fe <br /> unsaand a serious threat to the environment_ <br /> In the event of large spill <br /> A large spill can be defined as spilled gasoline covering an area larger than the size of a <br /> car. <br /> • Immediately press one of the emergency shut off buttons.Do not walk through a <br /> spill to do so! <br /> • If necessary, call 911. <br /> • Warn everyone to stay away from the spill. <br /> • If a large spill spreads beneath members' cars, do not allow them to start their cars <br /> and drive away. Starting the car could ignite the spill. If necessary,put the car in <br /> neutral and roil it clear of the spill. <br /> • Get help_ Call the duty manager for assistance. <br /> • Place cones to keep vehicles from entering the station and driving into the spill. <br /> • Use the booms and absorbents in your spill kit to protect storm drains. <br /> • If the spill occurred during a fuel delivery, the deliver--driver is trained in some <br /> aspects of spill response. Work with them if possible.Do not defer to their <br /> judgement if it conflicts with you common sense assessm rt of tile situation. <br /> • Keep a record of all large spills. An estimate of how much fuel was spilled, how it <br /> was cleaned up, how long it took to clean up, etc. should all be explained in your <br /> record. <br /> Environmental Impairment Liability(ELL) Claims <br /> In the event of an environmental emergency(including all large spills) you may call the <br /> Kemper Insurance Emergency Hotline at (888) 915-5326. The phone is continuously <br /> monitored and can assist you in locating a local spill response company to respond to a <br /> claim. <br /> Prevention <br /> • Replace any nozzle that is persistently causing significant"spitback"spills, or <br /> fails to shut off automatically.Pay particular attention to sticky or malfunctioning <br /> trigger locks. <br /> • Advise members that they should remain outside their vehicles watching the <br /> fueling process at all times. <br /> • All portable gasoline containers must be UL approved.
