All broken <br /> universal waste lamps and releases shall be immediately cleaned and containerized. Immediately store all universal <br /> waste lamps in a manner that prevents breakage and release to the environment. This is a Class II violation. <br /> 708 HSC 25201.16(f) Failed to properly manage containers of waste aerosol cans. <br /> The 55 gallon drum of universal waste(UW) aerosols was filled with aerosols so that it could not be closed at the end of <br /> the work day. UW aerosols shall be accumulated in a container that is closed, structurally sound and compatible with <br /> the contents of the universal waste aerosol can and show no leakage, spillage, or damage that could cause leakage. <br /> Immediately close the container. This is a Class II violation. <br /> 712 CCR 66273.34 Failed to label universal waste to identify type of universal waste. <br /> The box of universal waste(UW) batteries and the UW lamps were not labeled to identify type of UW. Universal waste <br /> shall be marked with the words "Universal Waste" and the type of waste (batteries, mercury containing equipment, <br /> lamps, electronic devices, CRTs, CRT glass). Immediately label these wastes and ensure that all universal wastes are <br /> labeled with the required information. This is a Class II violation. <br /> 713 CCR 66273.35 Stored UW onsite greater than one year or was unable to demonstrate the time UW has been stored. <br /> Facility did not demonstrate when the universal waste(UW) lamps, aerosols, and batteries on site became a UW. <br /> Universal waste may be accumulated for no longer than one year from the date the universal waste was generated. <br /> The universal waste handler shall be able to demonstrate the length of time that the universal waste has been <br /> accumulated. Since it could not be demonstrated how long this waste was stored on site, immediately dispose of this <br /> waste and submit a copy of the disposal receipt to the EHD by 11-27-14. This is a Class II violation. <br /> Overall Inspection Comments: <br /> Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement <br /> documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting <br /> paperwork, by 11-27-14. <br /> Consent to perform the inspection, take photos and collect samples was given by Martin Hernandez, Assistant <br /> Safety Director. <br /> This facility generated 1.78 tons of hazardous waste in the last calendar year 2013 (Jan-Dec). <br /> Please be aware as of January 1, 2013, all businesses are required to submit all hazardous materials information <br /> online to the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov.
