Job No. 4780201 • • 4
' 3.0 PROPOSED WELL INSTALLATION PROTOCOL
' All work will be performed in accordance with State guidelines and acceptable
industry standards. A Site Safety Plan will be prepared prior to commencement
of field activities.
1 3.1 Well Drilling Protocol
1 Well MW-1 will be installed by Spectrum Exploration, Inc. of Stockton,
California (C-57 Lic. #512268), using a mobile drill rig equipped with 8-inch
diameter, hollow-stem augers. All augers, drill rods, subs, and collars will be
thoroughly steam-cleaned before drilling operations commence. Cleaned
augers, rods, and other tools will be stored when not in use. Cleaning
' operations will be verified by a representative of EZC, Inc. All equipment
decontamination rinseate will be contained and stored on-site in labeled 55-
gallon drums, approved for such use by the State of California Department of
Transportation.
In order to develop a profile of soil type and soil contamination (if any), soil
samples will be obtained during drilling operations at appropriate intervals in the
unsaturated zone, at changes in lithology, just above the soil/groundwater
interface zone, and through areas of obvious contamination (if any). A detailed
boring log will be maintained, which will note soil texture, color, moisture
' content, consistency, and plasticity utilizing the Unified Soil Classification
' System. The observation of any unusual characteristics, such as chemical odor
or discoloration, will also be recorded and presented within the text of the
' investigation report.
' Soil cuttings will be stored on site in 55-gallon drums pending appropriate
disposal.
E2C, Inc.
