2.8 QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING,SAMPLING,AND REPORTING
After well development and initial groundwater sampling of the new wells,a periodic groundwater
monitoring program will be implemented. Winzler& Kelly will visit the site on a quarterly basis
through one hydrologic cycle (four quarters) for the collection ofdepth-to-groundwater data and
groundwater samples for laboratory analysis. Groundwater samples will be collected from each of
the three groundwater monitoring wells during each of the four sampling events following Winzler
&Kelly's SOP for Groundwater Sampling(Appendix A). Groundwater samples will be analyzed
for the full suite of analytes discussed above in Section 2.5.
Following receipt of laboratory analytical reports from each sampling event, Winzler& Kelly will
prepare a quarterly monitoring report, which presents the findings of each sampling event. A total of
four monitoring reports will be prepared. The fourth quarterly report will be an annual summary
report, which will evaluate the findings of the previous three quarters and provide recommendations
for further action, as appropriate, to proceed towards regulatory case closure.
2.9 SENSITIVE RECEPTOR SURVEY
The survey area will be defined as a radius of 2,000 feet around the center of the site. The survey
perimeter will be defined and parcels within this area identified based on Assessor Parcel Maps.A
site reconnaissance visit of the survey area will be conducted by Winzler&Kelly, which consists of
visual inspection for evidence of sensitive receptors such as schools, child and adult care homes,
hospitals, surface waters, wetlands, and water supply wells within a 500-foot radius of the site. The
sensitive receptor survey will also include an evaluation of potential preferential pathways for
migration of impacted water, such as drainage ditches, swales, and buried utilities.
2.10 QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL
Quality Assurance and Quality Control(QA/QC) for field work shall be provided by adherence to this
Workplan and to the SOPS as listed in Appendix A. In addition, soil and groundwater samples shall be
stored in chilled coolers for transport to a State-certified laboratory via chain-of-custody protocol.
Groundwater samples submitted to the laboratory shall be accompanied by a"trip blank". The trip blank
will be analyzed if each of the groundwater samples have detectable concentrations of target analytes. If
one of the groundwater samples out of the sample batch is reported as non-detectable for the suite of
target analytes, the trip blank will not be analyzed.
Laboratory QA/QC shall include the use of a"method blank"sample analysis for each analyte to avoid
false positive results and the analysis of"Laboratory Control Spike"samples to evaluate the"percent
recovery"for each analyte. The director of the laboratory shall sign each laboratory report.
3.0 SITE-SPECIFIC SAFETY PLAN
Field activities will be performed in accordance with this Workplan and SOPS. A Site-Specific
Safety Plan (Safety Plan)has been prepared and is included in Appendix C. The Safety Plan also
includes a route to hospital map and driving directions should an injury occur.
4.0 REPORT OF FINDINGS
A Report of Findings will be completed within 30 days after the receipt of final laboratory analytical
reports. The report of findings will include a description of the field activities performed, a discussion of
the findings, tabulated data, a map showing the sample locations and plume configurations,a calculation
03009-10017-37020 5
WINZLER&KELLY
August 2011
