CAL TECH Environmental Laboratories
lelepho e 1502; 27' 700 Nix: , , 72

Mr.Robert Mary
Page 2
October 30,2001
Chromium VI
All Chromium samples were analyzed on September 28, 2001.
Water samples had sediments at the bottom of the plastic container. Samples were shaken
several time to make sure that we have a homogenous sample, and sat for 5 minutes then
were filtered and analyzed. Samples had to be filtered due to matrix and particulate in the
sample. All groundwater samples must be filtered before analysis due to matrix
interference. Only Drinking waters can be run straight without filtration.
CTEL uses HACH- DR2010 spectrophotometer for analysis. HACH is a well-known
international company with most recent technology for field and laboratory testing
equipment.
D. I. Wet samples were extracted by method EPA 1311. The ratio of soil to D.I. water
was 1:20.
Blank D.I. water was used to zero the instrument following LCS /LCSD. AGE samples
were run after Tetra Tech samples and were bracketed by two sets of LCS/LCSD. Set of
LCS and LCSD is analyzed after 20 samples. Please see QA/QC for recoveries of LCS/
LCSD.
Diesel
Water samples were analyzed on September 28, 2001. Soil and D.I. Wet samples were
analyzed on September 30, 2001. Please see QA/QC for recoveries of LCS/LCSD.
Diesel samples were analyzed by EPA method 8015M using H.P. 5890 GC with FID
detector.
Data reduction is achieved via a data system. The total peak area is summed up and
plotted against the calibration curve. The resulting intercept yields the actual
concentration for each sample.
