Mr. Ross Atkinson
One discrete groundwater sample will be collected from each of borings. The samples will be
collected using a discrete sampling device (Hydropuncho or equivalent) driven into the water bearing
zone. After driving the sampling device to the appropriate depth, the drill rods will be retracted
exposing the sampler screen. Water will be retrieved with a length of polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE)
tubing equipped with a stainless steel bottom check valve. In the event that the sampler screen clogs
o for other reasons
cogroundwater will not enter the device in suitable quantity, a grab sample will be
collected through the rods using a disposable bailer. Water samples will be placed in appropriate
containers, labeled and chilled as described above.
All sampling and drilling equipment will be washed thoroughly with laboratory -grade detergent and
water between uses to minimize the potential for cross contamination. Wastewater genera
during fieldwork will be contained in labeled DOT approved dted
rums pursuant to 49 CFR part ted
and 40 CFR part 262, pending laboratory results and the develo72
pment of disposal options.
Laboratory Analysis
Soil samples selected for analysis will submitted under chain of custody protocol to a State -certified
hazardous waste testing laboratory. Soil samples will be analyzed for soluble TPHd and hexavalent
chromium by DI -WET extraction and EPA Methods 8015 (TPHd) and 7199 (Cr6).
The discrete groundwater samples will be submitted under chain of custody protocol to a State -
certified laboratory for analysis of TPHd and hexavalent chromium using EPA Methods 8015 and
218.6, respectively.
Reporting
Following the receipt of analytical results, a technical report describing the field activities,
analytical results, conclusions and recommendations will be submitted to the RWQCB and the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
Protocols and Safety
All field work will be conducted in accordance with the procedures described in the Quality
Assurance/Quality Control Plan included in Attachment A, and the Site Specific Health and Safety
Plan included in Attachment B.
Permitting
Drilling permit applications will be submitted to San Joaquin County EHD under separate cover
following approval of this Workplan.
Schedule
We anticipate that the investigation can be completed within the next 60 days and a technical report
submitted within 30 days thereafter.
G"GROUNDZEWcgre\REPORTSViydpu WKPLAN,doc
