PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS:
1. ABILITY TO COMPREHEND AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS:
Defined as: The ability to maintain attention and concentration for necessary periods.
The ability to understand written and oral instructions, and the ability to do work requiring set limits,
tolerances, or standards.
2% to 5% of overall job functions require the ability to understand verbal instructions from either the
Dry or Deli Warehouse Supervisor(s); to understand sufficiently and to follow through with specific
instruction, training procedure, method, or application; and to complete task or tasks in conjunction
with routine job functions. This includes handling of cleaning agents, and/or cleaning of incidental
spillages according to polices and procedures at the direct request of the Supervisor.
2. ABILITY TO PERFORM SIMPLE AND REPETITIVE TASKS:
Defined as: The ability to ask simple questions or request assistance; the ability to perform activities
of a routine nature; and the ability to remember locations and work procedures. The ability to obtain
information and answer questions regarding company procedures, or standards for immediate staff is
required.
75% or more of job functions involve the ability to perform simple and routine cleaning tasks, which
are repetitive in nature, or are routinely repeated; such as emptying trash receptacles, cleaning
surfaces, sweeping or mopping designated areas, etc. This includes remembering locations within the
Warehouse facility, accessibility, cleaning supplies or tools used, methods used to clean surfaces,
and a daily routine or schedule of tasks to be completed within each shift period.
3. THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN A WORK PACE APPROPRIATE TO A GIVEN WORKLOAD:
Defined as: The ability to perform activities within a schedule, maintain regular attendance and be
punctual; and the ability to complete a normal workday and/or work week and perform a consistent
pace.
100% of job functions involve the ability to self -pace work activities, or prioritize work functions in
order to complete daily or weekly tasks within a prescribed and known time frame. The Janitor must
be able to respond to incidental spillage issues, or needs for special cleaning of areas, and
manage time so as to complete the general and routine cleaning of all assigned areas. This includes
clocking in and out of the work shift appropriately, ensuring that all dock areas, or other assigned
areas of the Warehouse facility, are cleaned within the daily shift; and any additional irregular or
weekly/monthly task are included in the daily schedule, as necessary. Generally, one Janitor is on
duty during the day shift; and one Janitor is on duty on the evening/night shift. Each Janitor has
specific areas of the Warehouse facility to be cleaned daily and routinely, along with incidental
cleaning, that must be incorporated in the daily routine of the Janitor. The Janitor may perform tasks
in any order, however, spillage or incidental cleaning may, or will, take precedence over routine
activities. This requires the ability to change tasks as necessary, while maintaining a consistent pace
to complete all job function assigned.
Janitor -Cleaner (psychological factors) 12
