When survey operations are being conducted, the Permittee shall furnish,place and maintain <br /> signs and safety equipment in accordance with the latest edition of the "California Manual on <br /> Uniform Traffic Control Devices" (Part 6, Temporary Traffic Control). <br /> 3. All personnel shall wear hard hats and orange vests, shirts or jackets as appropriate. Any <br /> painted markings shall be made with water soluble paint. <br /> 4. Unless specifically authorized in this permit, survey markings within the right of way shall <br /> be temporary. Paint used for markings shall be water-soluble and other markers shall be <br /> removed upon completion of survey. <br /> 5. Any collected survey data requested by Caltrans shall be furnished to Caltrans without <br /> charge. <br /> 6. Measurements across traffic lanes shall be made through the use of an electronic distance- <br /> measuring device utilizing non-visible light or other optical means. <br /> 7. Electromagnetic and radioactive equipment must be operated by certified persomlel and shall <br /> not interfere with radio communications or be directed toward the traveling public. <br /> 8. Permission is also granted to park survey vehicles temporarily within the right of way, <br /> outside the shoulders,while survey work is in progress. <br /> 9. Detonating explosive charges within State right of way is prohibited. <br /> 10. Permittee shall provide for the safe passage of pedestrians <br /> 11. Box 2048, Stockton, CA 95201. <br /> Telephone, (209) 948-3983. <br /> 12.SURVEY WORK IS PROHIBITED ON FREEWAYS. <br /> In addition to the attached General Provisions, the following special provisions are also <br /> applicable: <br /> When the work area encroaches upon a sidewalk, walkway, or crosswalk area, special <br /> consideration must be given to pedestrian safety. Protective barricades, fencing, handrails, and <br /> bridges, together with warning and guidance devices and signs must be utilized so that the <br /> passageway for pedestrians, especially blind and other physically handicapped, is safe and well <br /> defined and shown on the approved permit plan. <br /> 3 <br />
