GEoSYNTEC CONSULTANTS
Ms. Amy Terrell
5 October 2004
Page 2
Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region(RWQCB) approved GeoSyntec's
' work plan with modifications, and also requested a proposal for: additional monitoring
wells to define the downgradient extent of site-related compounds; delineating the
contaminants of concern in the operations area; and defining upgradient water quality,.
In December 2003, GeoSyntec implemented the grab groundwater sampling
program to investigate the downgradient extent of site-related compounds in
groundwater. Groundwater samples were collected at six locations along South
Argonaut Street, northeast of the site (Figure 2). One sample was also collected onsite
' in the northeast corner of the facility. The direction of groundwater flow at JTF
Stockton has been consistently to the northeast and these seven locations are all
downgradient of the site operations. Results of the grab groundwater sampling program
were reported to the RWQCB along with recommendations for follow-up work4. Those
recommendations were:
Install one shallow downgradient monitoring well (MW-6) on South Argonaut
Street, in the vicinity of grab groundwater samples SB-2 and SB-3 and
downgradient of MW-4;
Advance one deep Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT) hole in the northeastern
' corner of the property, to record deeper subsurface stratigraphy and collect a
sample of deeper groundwater; and
t . Per the 9 July 2003 RWQCB request, investigate upgradient groundwater
quality. The proposed upgradient work included:
' 0 Identifying the owner of the adjacent property to the west of JTF Stockton
and explore the possibility of gaining access for installing a monitoring
' well.
' 39 July 2003.
