• • Pagel of 3
Aris Cacapit [EH]
From: Kasey Foley [EH]
Sent: Thursday, May 06, 2010 9:55 AM
To: David Gorton
Cc: Aris Cacapit [EH]; Garrett Backus [EH]; Jeff Wong [EH]; Kimberly Blackwell [EH]; Linda Turkatte
[EH]; Michelle Henry [EH]; Muniappa Naidu [EH]; Raymond von Flue [EH]; Stacy Rivera [EH]; Thuy
Tran [EH]; Willy Ng [EH]
Subject: RE: Used Oil Collection Questions
David, here are the answers to your questions:
#1 The law requires every hazardous waste generator (with the exception of silver -only waste) to have an EPA
ID#.
#2 This is a question for DTSC to answer.
#3 Since we don't issue their used oil collection equipment, we don't know what is allowed for them to accept.
Regarding the status as a large quantity generator, that is a different issue that is currently being reviewed by
this office but he is currently being considered a small hazardous waste generator.
#4 Regarding Kludt combining his hazardous waste in the used oil collection equipment, it is our understanding
he is currently keeping his hazardous waste separate. If he combines his waste with the used oil collection waste
he will need to somehow document the amount of waste he is generating. Isn't he being reimbursed for the
amount of waste he collects from the public? If so, I thought he wasn't allowed to include his waste because
then he would be reimbursed for his hazardous waste also.
Kasey Foley, REHS
Program Coordinator
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202-3029
(209)468-3451
kfo..ley_@sjcehd.com
From: David Gorton [mailto:dgorton@sjgov.org]
Sent: Wednesday, May 05, 2010 3:57 PM
To: Aris Cacapit [EH]
Subject: FW: Used Oil Collection Questions
Hi Aris,
I have not heard back from you on the email below, did you receive it?
Thanks,
David Gorton
5/12/2010
