All hazardous <br /> waste containers shall be marked with the following information: <br /> 1. the words "Hazardous Waste" 4. physical state (liquid, solid) <br /> 2. name and address of generator 5. composition (contents) <br /> 3. hazardous properties (flammable, corrosive, reactive, toxic) 6. accumulation start date <br /> The labels were corrected at the time of inspection. Since it cannot be determined how long the used oil <br /> drums have been on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this <br /> waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD by May 5, 2012. <br /> -A damaged lead acid battery was observed in the shop stored unlabeled on a pallet with the rest of the <br /> undamaged batteries. A damaged battery shall be managed so as to minimized the release of acid and <br /> lead and to protect the handlers and the environment, including at a minimum: <br /> (1) stored and transported in a nonreactive, structurally secure, closed container capable of <br /> preventing the release of acid and lead. <br /> (2) labeled with the initial date of accumulation, written in ink or other weather resistant material, so <br /> that it is legible and conspicuous <br /> (3) packed in a manner that prevents tipping, spilling, or breaking <br /> The battery was packaged and labeled at the time of inspection. <br /> -An emergency coordinator and modified contingency plan information was lacking. There must be at <br /> least one emergency coordinator on site or on call to coordinate emergency response measures, and <br /> the following information must be posted by a phone: the name and phone number of the emergency <br /> coordinator; location of fire extinguishers, spill control equipment, and if present, fire alarm; and the <br /> phone number of the fire department, unless the facility has a direct alarm. A modified contingency plan <br /> was completed and posted at the time of inspection. <br /> -A pallet of universal waste electronics were observed in the yard without labeling. A generator shall <br /> label or mark universal waste with the words 'Universal Waste' and the type of waste.
