PIACTIV
Food Packaging
The mop water and waste ink rinse (found in 5 gallon buckets of various colored ink in the
OPMR) are being mixed into the ink wash water for disposal.
Pactiv Response: Pactiv believes that the mop water and the waste ink rinse (in buckets),
along with the wash tanks, are all the same waste. All of this waste is generated from the
same process—washing ink off of various press parts and components using soapy water.
The ink is all the same water-based inks, the same soap is used for washing, and the
water/soap mixture is similar for all processes (10-20%soap). However, the wording used on
the various containers was inconsistency. Going forward, all waste containers with this
waste will be labeled as "Ink Waste Water".
No waste analytical was available on site for the glue sludge and water mixture.
Pactiv Response: Pactiv believes that this waste is non-hazardous. However, we have
elected to conduct analytical testing to confirm that waste determination. The sample has
been submitted to the laboratory, and we are awaiting results. Until the results are received,
we will not dispose of this waste.
109
Manifest numbers 000573697VE5 (8/28/12), 000576215VE5(10/29/12), and 000576215VE5
(10/29/12) were not found on site.
Pactiv Response: These manifests were inadvertently misfiled. Copies of these manifests are
provided as Attachment 4. In addition, to ensure our waste manifest files remain up-to-date
and complete, we have implemented a standard monthly review of our waste manifest files.
This review is included as part of our internal automated environmental task reminder
system.
110
Manifest numbers 000573697VES (8/28/12), 000576215VES (10/29/12), and 000576216VES
(10/29/12) were not found on site.
Pactiv Response: see response to 109.
301
A 5 gallon black plastic bucket of oily liquid was observed in the outdoor compressor area with a
hole cut in the lid.
Pactiv Response: This bucket has been removed. The oily liquid accumulated in the bucket
was transferred into containers designated for used oil storage at the facility.
Oily liquid was dripping from the pipes above the bucket, onto the lid and the concrete around
the bucket.
Pactiv Response:The leak has been repaired.
Oily staining was observed in the secondary containment area and over the edgeRECEIVED
tbf-
secondary containment leading to the yard.
