SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM POLICY/PROCEDURE MANUAL <br /> • TITLE: HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY PLAN POLICY NUMBER 5.06 <br /> PAGE 3 OF 14 <br /> 3.1.4 In the event of personal injury, the injured party, (employee), should <br /> immediately report to the Employee Health department or Urgent Care <br /> after 6:00 p.m. Visitors or patients should immediately report to Urgent <br /> Care, (Medicine 1). <br /> 3.1.4.1 The Material Safety Data Sheet for the spilled hazardous <br /> material should be obtained and brought to Employee Health or <br /> Urgent care. <br /> 3.1.5 Personnel must evacuate the spill area immediately only if: <br /> 0 Breathing becomes difficult. <br /> • Dizziness or other distress occurs. <br /> • Any other difficulties or health symptoms develop indicating short- <br /> term exposure. _ <br /> • Airborne contaminant level is unknown. <br /> • No department staff are trained in "fust response" at the awareness <br /> • level. <br /> 3.1.6 Departmental employees will proceed with appropriate identification, <br /> isolation, neutralization, containment, and initial clean up procedures. <br /> 3.1.7 Safety Director <br /> 3.1.7.1 Upon arrival at the scene, the Safety Director (designee) shall <br /> evaluate the extent of the spill and determine if departmental <br /> efforts are appropriate, adequate, and sufficient. <br /> 3.1.7.2 Upon satisfactory clean up of the spill, the Safety Director will, <br /> if necessary or required, notify appropriate regulatory <br /> agencies. <br /> 3.2 Emergency (large spill) localized in department or in a common area. <br /> PRODUCT INCIDENTAL SPILL VOLUME <br /> Acids Greater than 1/2 cup <br /> Bases & Caustics Greater than 1/2 gallon <br /> Bleach Greater than 1/2 gallon <br /> Flammable Liquids Greater than 1/2 gallon <br /> Formaldehyde Greater than 3/4 cup <br /> EFresnoRevisiondates: 09/12/96, 6/25/98, 3/30/00, 8/1/O1,Stockton revision date 07/22/02, <br /> , 3/20/03 <br />
