SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM POLICY/PROCEDURE MANUAL <br /> • TITLE: HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY PLAN POLICY NUMBER 5.06 <br /> PAGE 6 OF 14 <br /> 3.2.6.3 Engineering staff member(s) will be notified if necessary to <br /> maintain that ignition sources are shut off if the material <br /> involved is flammable. <br /> 3.2.6.4 Engineering staff member (s) will work with the Incident <br /> Commander to determine if ventilation systems need to be <br /> increased or partially/completely shut down and will <br /> proceed appropriately. <br /> 3.2.7 Environmental Services <br /> 3.2.7.1 Environmental Services staff are to receive proper hazard <br /> communication and hazardous material awareness training <br /> for first response (isolation, containment, neutralization, <br /> and disposal) of incidental spills. In the event -of an <br /> incidental spill will assist the department as necessary with <br /> disposal. Environmental Services, in cooperation with <br /> external responders will provide standby at the scene and <br /> will assist as necessary and reasonable with clean final up <br /> procedures. <br /> • No EVS personnel shall be involved in secondary clean up or <br /> disposal procedures of emergency or incidental spills without <br /> appropriate Hazardous Materials Training. <br /> 3.2.7.2 Environmental Services will coordinate the removal, storage, <br /> and immediate off-site disposal of the materials involved in <br /> spill clean up, especially those materials which are hazardous <br /> after neutralization. <br /> 3.3 Spills occurring during off-hours. <br /> 3.3.1 Departmental spills will be responded to as they would be in Sections 3.1 <br /> or 3.2. (Emergency Spill response policy should be referenced.) <br /> 3.3.2 Manager/supervisor or employee involved with the spill is to immediately <br /> call the service line to report an emergency size spill and indicate the <br /> hazardous material involved, location, and an estimate of the amount <br /> spilled.
