SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM POLICY/PROCEDURE ANUAL <br /> TITLE: HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY PLAN POLICY NUMBER 5.06 <br /> PAGE 7 OF 13 <br /> neutralize the material, and contain and proceed to clean up the spill using <br /> department spill materials. <br /> 3.35.1 Departmental staff shall not respond with "Emergency spill response" <br /> off-hours unless they have received appropriate hazardous materials <br /> training. <br /> 3.3.5.2 All other procedures will be followed as written for regular response <br /> during normal working hours(3.1 and 3.2). <br /> 3.4 Spills involving soil/water contamination. <br /> 3.4.4 When possible, all hazardous spills shall be contained and diked to prevent <br /> possible contamination of ground water, soil,and sewer systems. <br /> 3.4.5 In the event a hazardous waste spill should get into the sanitary sewer system, <br /> immediate action should be taken to stop further contamination. The local water district and <br /> the local Department of Fish and Game shall be notified immediately for <br /> corrective action: <br /> 3.4.7 In the event hazardous waste should spill onto the ground or we should have <br /> an underground tank leak, immediate action shall be taken to stop further <br /> contamination. Stockton Public Utilities,Water Department, and the local EPA <br /> office shall be notified immediately for corrective action.
