Training will be conducted during the <br /> on the job orientation, whenever a new hazardous chemical is introduced into the workplace & <br /> annually in conjunction with the Globally Harmonized System & the Occupational Safety& Health <br /> Administrations standards. All employees will be informed of the location of the printed hazard <br /> communication program, chemical listing & safety data sheets. <br /> 2. PURPOSE <br /> Establish guidelines to ensure that information on chemical hazards, hazardous substances & the <br /> methods to control theses hazards are communicated & available to all personnel <br /> 3. SCOPE <br /> This SOP applies to all United Pipe & Steel Corp. Personnel <br /> 4. DEFINITIONS <br /> SDS- A Safety Data Sheet or(SDS) is a legal document containing information on the potential <br /> effects on your health from exposure to chemicals. It is a sixteen-section document, dealing with <br /> toxicity, use, storage, handling and emergency procedures related to any products the government <br /> feels need to be controlled. It describes the possible hazards involved with the product, how to use it <br /> safely, and what to expect when the safety recommendations are not followed. In addition, it tells <br /> you what to do when accidents occur and how to recognize symptoms of overexposure. <br /> Hazardous Chemical- Any Chemical that presents a physical or health hazard <br /> OSHA—Occupational Safety & Health Administration <br /> GHS— Globally Harmonized System <br /> PPF, - Personal Protective Equipment <br /> CFR—Code of Federal Regulations <br /> EHS--Environmental Health& Safety <br /> SOP— Standard.
