CHARTER WAY, STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
I have reviewed the 7 February 1995 Interim Report Covering Results of Excavation Work Done &
Addendum to Work Plan Dated 7 November 1994 submitted by William J. Hunter & Associates for the
Independent Trucking facility in Stockton. The revised work plan adequately addresses the issues in my
9 December 1994 letter regarding further assessment work needed at the site. Four ground water
monitoring wells and several borings will now be drilled to better characterize the extent of soil and
ground water contamination. However, it is unclear what your plans are regarding the contaminated soils
still in place around the former 5,000 and 10,000 gallon underground storage tanks and associated piping.
Soil with up to 6,000 mg/kg of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel is still in place and now covered
with clean gravel.
In accordance with the revised work plan, by 1 June 1995, you will submit a report of the results from
this phase of the investigation. By 31 March 1995, please submit a work plan to further remediate the
soils associated with the former underground storage tanks.
If you have any questions, you may call me at (916) 255-3077.
J L M.
