Cherokee Lane l• /f y ° lJ
Lodi, CA 95240
Telephone: (209) 333-1939 1 1
November 4, 1988
SAN JOAQUIN LOCAL HEALTH DISTRICT
Post Office Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Attention: Laurie Cotulla
Re: Cherokee Service Center - Re-excavation work plan
Dear Ms. Cotulla:
Enclosed please find an application for a permit to re-
excavate in the area of soil contamination detected at the
Cherokee Service Center, together with a check for fees in
the amount of $70.00 for the review and field inspection.
RE-EXCAVATION WORK PLAN
1. Site Name - Cherokee Service Center
Site Address - 303 S. Cherokee, Lodi
Site Owner - Lloyd P. Gums
Site Operator - Lloyd P. Gums
2. A scale drawing of the site is enclosed which
illustrates the lay-out of all former tanks and highlights
the area where contamination was detected.
3 . All former tanks and piping systems were used
for storage of gasoline. No other petroleum products were
stored on the site. All tanks have been removed pursuant to
previously issued permits.
4. Local ground water depth is believed to be 60
feet. During the removal of the tanks the site was
excavated to a depth of approximately 15 feet. Planned re-
excavation would be in two stages. First, to a depth of
approximately 20 feet in a ten feet by five feet square, at
which time a soil sample would be taken. Second, to a depth
of approximately 25 feet in a larger square, if necessary,
at which time a second soil sample would be taken. Both of
the planned re-excavations would be at the southeast corner
of the site of previous excavation (the southeast corner is
the only location where contamination was detected and the
apparently leaking tank was approximately ten feet by five
