2.0 SITE BACKGROUND
2.1 SITE DESCRIPTION
The following sections describe the surface and subsurface features of the subject property and the
surrounding area. This information was obtained from public records, information supplied by Amerco\U-
Haul, and from a site visit by Blaes Environmental.
2.1.1 Site Location and Layout
The property is located on the east side of Cherokee Lane approximately 300 feet north of the intersection
of Cherokee Lane and Lockford Street in Lodi, California. The property is within Section 6, Township 3
North,Range 7 East of the Lodi North, California Quadrangle(U.S.Geological Survey 7 %2-minute Series
topographic map, 1968).
The property consists of a predominantly asphalt paved lot with two existing single-story buildings including
an office and a vehicle repair shop. The site is currently used as vehicle rental and repair facility. The site
features are shown on the Site Plan in Figure 2.
2.1.2 Site Physioerauhv
The property lies at an elevation of approximately 53 feet above Mean Sea Level. Natural surface drainage
in the area is toward the west-southwest(U.S. Geological Survey topographic map, 1968). However, in the
immediate vicinity, natural drainage has been altered by development. Visual observation in December 1996
indicated that on-site runoff drains to the west across the property.
2.1.3 Doth to Groundwater in the Site Area
Based on available groundwater data from the groundwater monitoring wells in the site area, the depth to
groundwater in the site area is reported to be approximately 55-60 feet below the ground surface with a
general groundwater flow direction toward the west(Beeler, 1997).
2.2 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS
Amerco\U-Haul records and a site visit by Blaes Environmental identified two underground storage tanks
at the site including one 6,000-gallon underground tank storing gasoline and one 6,000-gallon underground
tank storing diesel fuel. A summary of general tank information and the location and orientation of the
former underground tanks is presented in the following sections.
2
