<br />2.02 Appurtenances and Accessories
<br />A. Optional anchor straps—Provide FRP anchor straps as
<br />supplied by tank manufacturer, Number and location of
<br />straps shall be specified in current literature by tank
<br />manufacturer. Each strap shall be capable of withstanding
<br />the buoyancy load for tank diameter as shown.
<br />4 dia.— 4,200 lbs. 8 dia.-25,000 lbs.
<br />6 dia.-18,000 lbs. 10 dia.-25,000 lbs.
<br />B. Manways
<br />1. All manways to be flanged and 22" I.D. complete with
<br />U.L, listed gaskets, bolts and covers. (30" and 36" I.D.
<br />manways are also available on certain larger size tanks
<br />and are optional.)
<br />2. Location as shown on drawings.
<br />3. Optional manway extension tubes shall be FRP and 24"
<br />long. Longer extensions are available in one foot
<br />increments.
<br />4. Each steel manway cover shall have three 4" NPT fittings
<br />welded in place on tanks 3,000 gallons and larger. {Four
<br />4" NPT fittings on manway covers of 550, 1,000 and
<br />2,500 gallon tanks.)
<br />C. Optional Fill Tubes
<br />1. Fill tubes shall be FRP or contractor supplied aluminum
<br />and installed. Locations as shown on drawings.
<br />2. FRP tubes shall be 4" diameter with a 6" x 4" double
<br />tapped reducer bushing and include a 6" NPT fitting on
<br />the tank. FRP tubes can be installed in manway cover or
<br />tank shell wall. Aluminum tubes (contractor supplied)
<br />shall be 4" diameter and fit directly into a W NPT fitting.
<br />Tubes shall terminate a minimum of 4" from bottom of
<br />tank.
<br />O. Gauge Plates—Shall be installed under each service fitting
<br />and manway opening.
<br />E. Heating Coils
<br />1. Optional heating coils shall be installed in a separate 22"
<br />manway and shall be the standard item supplied by tank
<br />manufacturer.
<br />2. Location as shown on drawings.
<br />F. Optional Ladders—Shall be the standard ladder as
<br />supplied by tank manufacturer {aluminum, carbon steel or
<br />fiberglass).
<br />G. NPT Threaded Fittings
<br />1. All threaded fittings shall be a material of construction
<br />consistent with the requirements of the U.L. label.
<br />2. All standard thread fittings shall be half couplings and
<br />shall be 4" in diameter. Reducers are to be used for
<br />smaller sizes where shown and provided by contractor.

<br />4. Strength — NPT fittings shall withstand a minimum of 150
<br />ft. pounds torque and 1,000 ft, pounds of bending, both
<br />with a 2:1 safety factor.
<br />H. Monitor Fittings
<br />1. Each monitor fitting shall consist of a 4" NPT fitting on
<br />the secondary tank.
<br />2. Tanks with a capacity of 3,000 gallons or greater shall
<br />have two monitor fittings, one near each end of the tank.
<br />Tanks less than 3,000 gallon capacity shall have one
<br />monitor fitting.
<br />Part 111 Execution
<br />3.01, 3.02 Installation and Testing
<br />Tanks shall be tested and installed according to current
<br />Double Wall Installation instructions provided with the tank.
<br />(Refer to current publication and include as part of
<br />specification.)
<br />Part IV Warranty
<br />4.01 Warranty shall be manufacturer's standard warranty.

<br />Petroleum or Alcohol Fuels Storage Double Wall Underground Petroleum
<br />Storage Tank With Resin Specified For Expanded Fuels
<br />Xerxes Corporation warrants that Xerxes underground storage tanks, if used
<br />in accordance with its specifications, are U.L. listed, and installed according
<br />to Xerxes published installation instructions:
<br />(1) Will not fail for a period of thirty (30) years from date of original
<br />purchase due to external corrosion,
<br />(2) Will not fail for a period of thirty 5301 years from date of original
<br />purchase due to internal corrosion, provided the tank is used solely with
<br />or without tank water bottoms for the following products:
<br />a. Gasoline; gasohol (90% gasoline/10% ethanol mixture); 90.5%
<br />gasoline and 9.5% Oxinol-50* (4.75% methanol and 4.75% GTBA
<br />mixture); Dupont EPA waiver (gasoline with 5% methanol and a
<br />minimum of 2.5% cosolvent - the blend may contain a maximum
<br />concentration of up to 3.7 weight percent oxygen in the final fuel);
<br />MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) - gasoline with up to 20%, by
<br />volume, of MTBE; gasoline/water/ethanol or methanol blend motor
<br />fuels including 100% ethanol or methanol or M85 (85% methanol) at
<br />ambient temperatures; jet fuel; av-gas; kerosene; diesel fuel; new or
<br />used motor o?; or used for fuel oil at temperatures not to
<br />exceed 150°F
<br />b. Potable water at ambient temperatures.
<br />(3) Will not fail for a period of thirty (30) years from date of original
<br />purchase due to structural failure (defined as breaking or collapse)
<br />provided the installation is performed and validated by a qualified
<br />installation contractor, installed in the United States, and the tank is used
<br />as stated above.
<br />(41 Will meet. Xerxes published specifications and will be free from material
<br />defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year
<br />following date of original delivery by Xerxes.
<br />If any tank(s) is to be removed from an installation, moved to original
<br />owners new location and is intended for active service at the new location,
<br />the lank(s) must be recertified by Xerxes in order to maintain the warranty
<br />as originally extended.
<br />Xerxes' liability under this warranty shall be limited to, at Xerxes' option, (a)
<br />repair of the defective tank, (bl delivery of a replacement tank to the point
<br />of original delivery, or ic) refund of the original purchase price. A claimant
<br />must give Xerxes the opportunity to observe and inspect the tank prior to
<br />removal from the ground or the claim will be barred. All claims must be
<br />made in writing within one year after tank failure or be forever barred. THE
<br />FOREGOING WARRANTY CONSTITUTES XERXES EXCLUSIVE
<br />OBLIGATION AND XERXES MAKES NO WARRANTY OR
<br />REPRESENTATION, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE
<br />TANK OR ANY SERVICE, ADVICE, OR CONSULTATION, iF ANY,
<br />FURNISHED TO CUSTOMER BY XERXES OR ITS REPRESENTATIVES,
<br />WHETHER AS TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
<br />PURPOSE, OR OTHERWISE. THE REMEDIES SET FORTH IN THE ABOVE
<br />WARRANTY ARE THE ONLY REMEDIES AVAILABLE TO ANY PERSON
<br />FOR BREACH OF THE WARRANTY OR FOR BREACH OF ANY OTHER
<br />COVENANT, DUTY, OR OBLIGATION ON THE PART OF XERXES
<br />HEREUNDER. XERXES SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL,
<br />CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES OF ANY DESCRIPTION,
<br />WHETHER ANY SUCH CLAIM BE BASED UPON WARRANTY,
<br />CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHER TORT OR
<br />OTHERWISE.
