Alert <br />other drivers of potential hazards. <br />Be familiar with the route to be <br />used. If route changes throughout <br />the day, notify appropriate <br />personnel. Ensure that routes are <br />free of obstacles such as debris <br />and ruts. NEVER use a route that <br />travels against the flow of haul <br />truck traffic unless the route is <br />coordinated, approved and <br />overseen by 'Field Project <br />Manager. Be aware that other site <br />sub/contractors use these same <br />roads. Be a defensive driver. Be <br />aware of other site personnel not <br />following safe driving procedures. <br />Obey site traffic rules. Drive with <br />lights on and heed all traffic signs. <br />OE Tenet 1 and 2. <br />7 Drive in reverse. Injury, death or due to accidents -back <br />Always minimize backing up. <br />off edge of excavation, back into <br />NEVER back up if unsure of what <br />equipment, people or other obstacles; <br />is behind the truck. Never drive close <br />to an edge or back to an edge <br />that could collapse. Never back <br />when vision is obscured by <br />sunlight, darkness, fog, etc. Never <br />back onto an upward slope, badly <br />rutted or extremely soft ground. <br />OE Tenet 1 and 2. <br />8 Receive load. Injury, death or equipment damage- <br />Never allow the truck to be loaded <br />contact with other equipment, truck <br />with excavator swinging over cab. <br />tip; miscommunication; falling debris; <br />Never stand next to a truck or <br />unexpected equipment movement <br />allow others to stand next to a <br />truck being loaded. Set parking <br />brake and park a sufficient <br />distance from the equipment <br />loading the truck.
