Sprilltu Network Practices LDD SNP-104-601
11/7/01
3. Routine Tank Maintenance Program
Sprint's routine tank maintenance program consists of a yearly inspection and annual calibration of the
automated monitoring system. Certified manufacturer representatives must perform this work for the
products used. Upon completion of the yearly check, certification that the unit is operating properly is
provided.
When establishing a routine maintenance program, local management may consider optional services
such as fuel sampling and testing, and fuel circulation (discussed below} as a part of the overall
program.
3.9 Annual Tank Tightness Tests
Annual tank tightness tests are not required under BPA regulations when automated tank monitoring is
in place. However, these tests may be required under certain state or county regulations. When
required, Network Property and Controls and Transmission Operations personnel schedule these tests
as part of the routine tank maintenance program.
3.1.1 Acceptable Tests
The tank testing industry is ever changing;because of this; it is impossible to recommend specific tank
tests. However,general guidelines are provided.
The test should:
Use a precision test system(includes a vacuum test)
Be computerized(eliminate the possibility of manual error)
Be state approved
• Be a test that does not require a "top-off' of fuel
5
Copyright 01999-2001 Sprint Corporation
The information in this document is proprietary.
