Sprint Network Practices LDD SNP-104-601/7/ 1
11//al
1 The previous year's monitoring results and most recent tightness test
2. Performance claims provided by the leak detection equipment manufacturer
3. Recent, maintenance, repair, and calibration of on-site leak detection equipment
8.2.2 Diesel Fuel Record-Keeping
The Sprint site representative uses the automatic tank monitoring system to monitor and record diesel
fuel inventory levels. If the automatic system is out of service, take manual level checks using a
calibrated tank dipstick. This manual method is only used until the automatic stem is repaired. These
inventory checks are made daily at manned facilities and during each site visit at unmanned facilities.
Refer to 5.3 of this SNP.
Note: Sites monitored by the Building Automation System(BAS) is the responsibility of the Building
Management Center(BMC)for record keeping, inventory control and yearly calibration of systems.
The site representative maintains a daily log containing the following information:
• The tank fuel level
• The date and time of test reading
• The temperature of fuel
8.2.3 Repairs or Upgrades
As stated in section 4.0 above, Operations and Engineering managers maintain all UST system repair
and/or upgrade records. These records are required to prove that the system was repaired and/or
upgraded properly. These files are maintained as a permanent part of the facility records.
8.2.4 Closing a UST
For at least three years after closing a UST, Operations and Engineering personnel maintain records of
the site assessment results (required for permanent closure). These results reflect the environmental
impact that the UST had on the surrounding area. Refer to 4.1 of this SNP.
8.2.5 Financial Responsibility
The EPA mandates that owners and/or operators of USTs must ensure through insurance or other
acceptable means that money is available to cover costs involving third party liability and corrective
action that may result from a leak in the tank.
Environmental Health and Safety will provide each facility with certification of financial responsibility.
This certification must be maintained on-site.
8.2.6 General Rule
Environmental Health and Safety will contact the regulatory authority that has jurisdiction over the site
location to determine the particular record-keeping requirements for the site.
The general rule is when in doubt, keep the record.
13
Copyright®t999-2001 Sprint Corporation
The information in this document is proprietary.
