In between removal of the tank and August
22, 1988, the excavation became partially filled with surrounding material.
When samples were taken no equipment was on site to re -excavate the soil.
Samples were taken at a depth of 51-, feet to 6 feet. Soil was tested for:
Total Lead, BTX, Gasoline, Stoddard, Paint Thinner, Diesel #2, Kerosene,
Ethylene Dibromide and Oil (as motor oil). All tests were N/D with the
exception of Total Lead, which tested 3.7 (MG/KG) and oil 56. (MG/KG)
(Detection limit 40.). (Please see attached sample results.)
The level of lead poses no problem. However, San Joaquin County Health
officials feel the oil results are in excess of acceptable limits and are
requesting that further action be taken.
