bm %of ftw
VM
(mg/kg), respectively. The concentrations of lead appear to represent background levels for soil
in the area and are well below the most stringent San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality
r Control Board Environmental Screening Level for lead in soil of 150 mg/kg.
6.0 SITE RESTORATION AND WASTE DISPOSAL
6.1 SITE RESTORATION
Upon completion of piping removal activities, the Site was restored to pre-excavation
` conditions in conjunction with other site activities. The Site was repaved to match the existing
surface conditions on October 15, 2007.
6.2 WASTE DISPOSAL
The removed piping was saw-cut and placed in a DOT approved, properly labeled, 55-gallon,
` steel drum and stored temporarily at the Site. Since the piping was not decontaminated, they
were handled as hazardous waste in accordance with SJCEHD requirements. The waste was
removed by PSC-Benicia on November 8, 2007 and delivered to an approved disposal facility
in Fernley,Nevada. Waste disposal documentation is included in Appendix C.
7.0 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
In October 2007, four pipes associated with two former 6,000-gallon gasoline USTs were
removed from the Site for permanent closure. The USTs were removed for permanent closure
4 in 1987. Two soil samples were collected beneath the piping and submitted for laboratory
analyses. No petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were detected in the samples.
Concentrations of lead in the samples appear to represent background levels for soil in the area.
The piping was transported offsite and properly disposed as hazardous waste. The area was
restored to pre-excavation conditions in conjunction with other site activities.
No further action appears necessary, regarding the gasoline UST piping. However, the former
6,000-gallon gasoline UST systems are the subject of an open environmental case with
` SJCEHD, which is under the oversight of Ms. McCartney. Therefore, a copy of this report will
be provided to Ms. McCartney and be uploaded to the State of California GeoTracker database.
Ir
SLAIR 2007.11 Pipline Removal Report 4
V
