11May 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No.01-081Q <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> An inspector from the City of Stockton Fire Department (Inspector Kent Miller) was on hand to <br /> oversee the tank removal activities. LEL and free oxygen percentages were measured and <br /> recorded. <br /> After being removed, the tank was visually inspected and appeared to be intact, with two holes. <br /> and some corrosion.noted. The tank was subsequently transported to.West Coast.Equipment <br /> Company of Turlock for disposal. <br /> Soil removed to uncover the tank was replaced in the excavation over plastic shecting.and <br /> compacted back into the UST excavation. The remaining volume of the UST excavation was <br /> backfill with compacted ,clean fill for safety reasons. . <br /> Ground water was not encountered during removal of theUSTs. <br /> SOIL SAMPLING <br /> Following removal of the tank,-a backhoe was used to collect a soil sample from 2 feet below the <br /> end of the former UST (Figure 2). A soil sample was collected from the soil stockpile. Each soil <br /> sample was collected with a metric soil sampling hammer, loaded with a pre-cleaned brass <br /> sleeve. The ends of the brass sleeves were sealed with a Teflon plastic and end caps were tapped <br /> over the ends of each sample sleeve. <br /> Samples were collected by Precision Enviro-Tech (PET) of Stockton, a State of California _ <br /> Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory. The date and time.the soil samples <br /> were taken were noted on the chain-of-custody form included with the attached laboratory report <br /> and quality control data. The samples were labeled and placed in a chilled container. The samples <br /> were transported under chain-of-custody to PET. The date and time .the soil samples were <br /> collected were noted on the chain-of-custody form included with the attached laboratory report' <br /> and quality control data.. <br /> The soil samples were analyzed for: <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in <br /> accordance with EPA Method-8015=modified, " <br /> • Purgeable aromatics benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEK) in <br /> accordance with EPA Method 8020; <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmentd,-Inc. <br />
