In 1987 underground
storage tanks were removed from the site, soil excavation
was undertaken, and a closure letter was issued for the
site dated July 18, 1987 . Since that time, the site has
been paved and the business operation sold to the current
operator.
We were very disturbed to receive your March 7, 1994
letter indicating that "the former underground storage
tank(s) (UST) cannot ba reco=ended for final closure
without further investigation to determine the full extent
of the soil and/or groundwater problem. "
As the closure letter issued by your office indicates,
investigation was undertaken and soil analysis showed
nondetectable levels for benzene, toluene, xylene and TPH.
There is no evidence of a release occurring at this site
since the closure letter was issue, and absolutely no
support for the filing of an Underground Storage Tank
Unauthorized Release (Leak) /Contaminated Site Report
pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 25295 .
P:\PSR\JNZ\C\NIN50N-LET
31924-21117/j../03/28/94/1
