WORK ZONES AND
SECURITY MEASURES
A site must be controlled to reduce the possibility of exposure to any
hazards or contaminants present to any of the general public. Thus a formal
work zone must be identified. In this particular case, with the scope of work
including so much of the entire lot, the work zone identified will include the
whole lot. The lot will be fenced off by the contractor with temporary fence not
to be removed until such time that no hazards remain. Only authorized
personnel will be allowed in this designated area. Personnel and equipment
on site will be minimized consistent with effective operations. Operations will
be conducted in a manner conducive to reducing exposure of personnel and
equipment.
All trenching excavations will have legal bridges at points of crossings.
Personal protective equipment will be kept at a legal minimum. Hard hats and
shoes, long pants shirts will be required. Eye protection, ear protection, and
hand protection when necessary, will be required. Weekly tailgate meetings
will be required to discuss all relevant safety issues.
Emergency response will be through verbal communication by the site
supervisor. Long Vehicle horn blasts will signal emergency evacuation.
In the event of equipment failure the site supervisor will be notified and
with this information he/she will dictate necessary actions to be taken.
UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT (USA) 1-800-642-2444 has or will
be notified of construction and will inspect the area before the start of
construction
