Muniappa Na.idu, Sr. REHS <br />San Joaquin County <br />Environmental Health Department -2- February 6, 2008 <br />2. Provide additional information regarding the "automatic fare suppression device" (TI), <br />include Underwriters Laboratory (UL) or third party approval for the device. <br />Response: Enclosed is a package of manufacturer's cut sheets further describing the Pisces <br />automatic fire suppression system. The system must be installed in accordance with NEPA <br />30A, 2000 edition. <br />3. Dual float is required on the annular sensor. Submit appropriate changes to the plan. <br />Response: Changes have been made to Drawing Sheets T2, T5, and T7. <br />4. As per our telephone conversation, provide drawings of storm water drainage around the <br />dispensers, and details on any oil/water separator used at the facility. <br />Response: Enclosed are Sheets C-1 through C-4 of the site improvement plans, prepared by <br />Kier and Wright, dated September 27, 2007. The storm structure schedule on Sheet C2 <br />depicts the location of the oil/water separator on the project site. <br />5. Provide additional information on the Bravo Under Dispenser Containment (UDC). Specify <br />if the entire UDC is UL listed. <br />Response: Enclosed is a copy of RHL Design Group, Inc.'s third party engineering <br />evaluation, dated August 20, 2003, and amended September 17, 2004. <br />/U. Explain the reason for using discriminating and non -discriminating sensors at different <br />monitoring locations. Make sure that the requirements of California Code of Regulations <br />(CCR) section 2636 (f) and section 2630 (d) is met. <br />Response: We have reviewed the requirements of CCR Sections 2636(f), 2630(d), and the <br />enclosed plans have been designed in compliance with these requirements and the <br />requirements of Section 2638. Our client, Costco Wholesale, has extensive experience in <br />locating the sensors so as to best manage the risk of a leak. <br />7, Provide UL or third party approval for the sumps used on the tanks. <br />Response: The UL listing for the Sumps is 1316; enclosed is a copy of the listing. <br />8. The Veeder Root PLLD model 848480-001 is to he used with flex piping only. Provide the <br />correct Line Leak Detector for the UST system. Also include the length of pipe used in the <br />system. <br />Response: No changes have been made to the plans. The Veeder-Root Application Guide is <br />enclosed and has been highlighted to indicate the applicable PLLD. All product lines are 2 - <br />inch ID. Tank 1 has 175 feet of piping downstream of its PLLD; Tank 2 has 180 feet, and <br />Tank 3 has 192 feet. Each PLLD line is, therefore, within the maximum 500 -foot length for <br />PLLDs in fiberglass 2 -inch piping systems. <br />
