INTRODUCTION <br />The purpose of this manual is to provide specifiers, <br />owners, contractors and their employees with detailed in- <br />structions for installing Single -Wall and Double -Wall Fiber- <br />glass Underground Storage Tanks and related accessories. <br />Note: Tank installation is a very specialized business. If <br />you do not have the proper experience, please contact a <br />contractor who dogs, or call Containment Solutions Inc. for <br />a list of educated contractors. <br />The material presented has been developed and refined in <br />the installation of over 200,000 tanks. <br />IMPORTANT INFORMATION <br />Proper installation of each tank is essential: <br />♦ To ensure the safety of all the individuals involved <br />in the tank installation. <br />♦ To prevent tank damage and/or failure, which <br />could lead to product loss and environmental con- <br />tamination. <br />♦ To validate the tank structural warranty for <br />underground petroleum storage. <br />TANK INSTALLATION <br />Do not enter the tank excavation unless necessary <br />and in compliance with OSHA regulations! Please consult them. <br />♦ The presence of Containment Solutions representative <br />at the jobsite does not relieve the contractor of responsi- <br />bility to follow the published installation instructions. <br />TO ACTIVATE THE TANK'S 30 -YEAR <br />STRUCTURAL WARRANTY FOR <br />UNDERGROUND PETROLEUM STORAGE: <br />♦ These instructions must be followed. <br />♦ Installation checklist (Pub. No. INST 6002) must be prop- <br />erly completed, signed by the installing contractor's rep- <br />resentative and the tank owner's representative. <br />♦ The installation checklist must be retained by the tank <br />owner and/or installing contractor to validate any fu- <br />ture warranty claim. <br />BEFORE YOU BEGIN <br />♦ Read, understand and follow these instructions. <br />♦ Barricade the tank area until job is completed. <br />♦ Review and prepare to complete the installation check- <br />list Pub. No. INST 6002. The properly completed instal- <br />lation checklist must be retained by the tank owner and/ <br />or installation contractor to validate any future warranty <br />claim. <br />♦ Check with local authorities for local building codes, <br />underground utilities, or testing requirements. <br />♦ If you have questions on other installation details, such <br />as specific procedures for adding tanks to an existing <br />installation or alternate installation techniques, contact <br />your local Containment Solutions Sales Representative. <br />If he or she is not available, call Tank Technical Sup- <br />port, Conroe, Texas, 800-537-4730. <br />♦ If you have other questions regarding tank modifications, <br />such as adding fittings or manways, or a tank repair, <br />contact Containment Solutions Field Service. <br />♦ Additional information on alternate man -out -of -hole in- <br />stallation techniques is available.
