♦ The standard 22" manway installed in single-wall tanks ❑ Has a load bearing capacity of 1200 lbs. ♦ Optional heavy duty manway. ❑ Has a load bearing capacity of 2400 lbs. ♦ Fiberglass heavy duty manways must be specified on tanks equipped with helical heating coils, agitators or pumps with a total downward load greater than 1200 lbs, but less than 2400 lbs, ♦ Do not exceed 50 foot pounds torque during bolt tight- ening or manway flange damage may occur. Note: All 30" and 36" manways installed on single- wall tanks and all manways on double-wall tanks are heavy duty. A13. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPARTMENT TANKS Kerosene must be separated from gasoline with a Double-wall Bulkhead. Potable water must be separated from all petroleum prod- ucts with a Double-wall Bulkhead. Mixing of kerosene and gasoline may result in explosion or fire and possible injury or death. + tacn compartment should be tested as though it were an individual tank. Use the applicable procedures listed previously in this section (section A-3). ♦ Test the annular space as described earlier in this section (note that the annular space is continuous around all compartments including the space between any double wall bulkhead). ♦ For single wall tanks in a double bulkhead: ❑ Connect compressor hose to the 4" bulkhead an- nulus access fitting and pressurize to 5 psi maxi- mum. ❑ Close the valve and disconnect the air supply. ❑ Soap the fitting and the tank shell wall for 5 feet on each side of the fitting. Soap this area 360 degrees complete around the tank. 16 A14. SITE MONITORING WELLS ♦ New installations - place monitoring wells a minimum of 1' outside of tank sides or ends. ♦ Existing installation - place monitoring wells a mini- mum of 3' from tank sides or ends (see figure 25).
