D2. TURBINE ENCLOSURE HEIGHT -continued
If turbine enclosure is too long:
♦ Trim length before installation on the collar.
❑ Carbide tipped blade or masonry blade is recom-
mended.
❑ Cut lines are marked in 3" increments.
❑ Must be square cut within ±%" in order for adhesive
kit to properly seal the joint.
D3. TOP CLEARANCES
Important: Isolate All Turbine Enclosure From Direct
Traffic Loading (Applicable to Non -Sealed, Watertight
and Sealed Turbine Enclosures)
Typical Installation Plywood (48"x48"x314")
Street Box NTE Friction Fit Lid
* Reinforced Concrete
7F7 er
nt
* #5 Rebar 8" o.c., both ways, extending 4'0"
in all directions from center
er backtillinq to top of turnine enclosure:
♦ Place 1-114" of specified gravel and then 314" thick ply-
wood (4'x 4') over turbine enclosure top (but not over fid)
to allow 2" minimum clearance between top of turbine
enclosure and bottom of concrete surface pad (see fig-
ure 27).
• This 2" clearance also provides a channel for water
runoff.
If the tank is located in a traffic area:
♦ Pour traffic slab directly onto plywood.
❑ Reinforce with #5 rebar 8" on center both ways ex-
tending 4' in all directions from street box.
♦ After turbine enclosure is installed:
❑ Use a minimum 36" diameter (or 36" square) street
box to allow lid removal after installation.
20
D4. MOUNTING TURBINE ENCLOSURE TO
COLLAR
Priorto mounting turbine enclosure to collar:
♦ Rotate the manway cover to align tank fittings and sub-
mersible pump with intended piping layout.
If manway cover is removed:
❑ Inspect manway gasket for damage.
❑ Replace gasket if necessary.
To prevent ingress of water:
♦ Cement turbine enclosure to collar using optional adhe-
sive kit (Kit AD) supplied by Containment Solutions.
FIGURE 28
To adjust for
tho burial depth,
i• in tit botgm
ctthe urzin.3
Enclosure — Turbine
ir;losim_-
Sand and dear
all joint arena
priorto apptg,rg
Adhesive
Collar
Sand and Clean Mating Surfaces
Step 1
Ensure mating surfaces are free of contaminants.
Step 2
Sand bottom 3" of the turbine enclosure interior surface
using supplied sandpaper
Step 3
Sand inside surface of the adhesive channel on the sec-
ondary containment collar.
NOTE: All surfaces must be sanded until they are clean
and appear "white" in color.
Step 4
Wipe the mating surfaces clean.
Position Turbine Enclosure on Collar
(see figure 28)
Step 1
Use a rubber mallet, if necessary, to seat turbine
enclosure on collar.
Step 2
Confirm that surfaces inside adhesive channel are dry
and clean before mixing or applying the adhesive.
NOTE: As an option, you may apply tape to the
exterior of the joint to minimize adhesive run on
the exterior of the turbine enclosure.
