MIX AND APPLY THE ADHESIVE
Step 1
Read Adhesive Applications Guidelines.
Step 2
Check date on adhesive. Adhesive shelf life is six
months.
Step 3
Thoroughly mix two part adhesive in accordance with
the detailed mixing instructions contained in the adhe-
sive kit (Kit AD).
NOTE: Properly mixed adhesive will turn dark red.
Step 4
Apply with supplied application tool.
Step 5
Fill the channel from outside turbine enclosure.
CURING
Step 1
Allow adhesive to cure 24 hours minimum.
NOTE: Mating parts must not be moved before adhe-
sive is fully cured.
Step 2
For outside ambient temperatures below 60°F, apply
supplemental heat to initiate adhesive curing process.
NOTE: See Adhesive Application Guidelines.
TESTING
Step 1
Read Section DS, Hydrostatic Water Test for details.
FIGURE 29
@Sand these surfaces first, place
turbine enclosure onto collar,
then appy adhesive into the
adhesive channel,
NTE REDUCER & LID
ADHESIVE
CHANNEL
TURBINE P1PE BODY
CONTAINMENT COLLAR
ADHESIVE APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
ASPHYXIATION FIRE
EXPLOSION
THE ADHESIVE MATERIALS AND VAPORS ARE FLAM-
MABLE. TO PREVENT FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARD, IF A
HEATGUN (OROTHER IGNITION SOURCE) IS USED FOR
SUPPLEMENTAL HEAT, FIRST EVACUATE FLAMMABLE VA-
PORS WHICH MAYACCUMULATE IN THE TURBINE EN-
CLOSURE.
ADHESIVE APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
Use the following guidelines, which are based on out-
side ambient temperature, to mix and apply adhe-
sive. (Adhesive shelf life is six months. Check pro-
duction date on box).
When required for turbine enclosure adhesive:
• Recommended method for supplemental heat is
to transfer warm air to the turbine enclosure while
keeping ignition sources away.
Heat sources:
• Salamander heater.
• Radiant heater.
• Heat gun (maximum output temperature 200°F)
❑ Can be used for turbine enclosure adhesive if
outside temperature is at least 45°F.
For cold and cool weather (less than 60°F):
• Preheat the adhesive to 65-75°F.
• Mix adhesive.
• Add supplemental heat inside the assembled tur-
bine enclosure to raise temperature of collar and
enclosure to 60°F minimum, 1507 maximum.
• Apply adhesive.
• Continue to apply supplemental heat to adhesive
until it hardens (30 minutes minimum).
Warm Weather (between 61°F and 85°F):
• Adhesive will harden in approximately 30 minutes.
❑ No supplemental heat required.
Hot weather (above 85°F):
• Apply adhesive more rapidly (itWII harden in 15 min-
utes).
• (Alternate) Cool the adhesive to 60°F to slow down
chemical reaction.
❑ Increases allowable application time.
CONTINUED ON PAGE 22
21
