When required for FRP coupling:
• Recommended method for supplemental heat is a
hand held heat gun (maximum output temperature
200°F).
Important: Mix unused tube of catalyst and any
unused adhesive to form a solid for safe dis-
posal. Then dispose as a nonhazardous waste
in accordance with federal, state and local
regulations.
D5. FRP SEALED TURBINE ENCLOSURE
(SEE FIGURE 30)
Do Not air pressure test turbine enclosure. See
Section D8 for testing methods. Turbine enclo-
sures must be isolated from direct traffic load-
ing. (See section D3)
To prevent water infiltration in high groundwater
conditions turbine enclosures must:
♦ Be mounted and cemented to secondary containment
collar using same procedure described in section D4.
♦ Have its top mounted and cemented in place. Follow
procedure used to cement turbine enclosure to collar
(section D4).
♦ Always vent turbine enclosures. (Usually accomplished
with double wall piping.)
FIGURE 30
On a sealed turbine enclosure torque lid bolts to 25 ft. -
lbs. Any lubricant that will not
dissolve in gasoline or water, nor attack Buna-N rub-
ber is acceptable. Almagard 3752 from Lubrication
Engineers in Fort Worth, Texas is recommended.
While not as long lasting, other lubricants like barium
grease, or petroleum jelly can also be used. Lubri-
cant can be applied directly to the o -ring or to the
inside surface of the lid flange.
When removed from the turbine enclosure, the lid
should be placed with the flange up (not in the dirt) to
prevent the lubricant on the lid flange form being con-
taminated with dirt, small rocks, or other contaminants.
♦ The gasket (flat or o -ring) is a maintenance item which • The gasket (flat or o -ring) is a maintenance item which
will have to be replaced periodically or when it shows a will have to be replaced periodically or when it shows
leak during a tightness test. a leak during a tightness test.
22
