U .✓
3.20 SITE CONTROL
3.20.1 Zones
3.20.1.1 Exclusion Zone
An exclusion zone will be maintained around each work location by placement of caution
tape. The size and shape of the exclusion zone will be determined by the conditions on the site,
and will be large enough to encompass the potentially hazardous zone around the work site. The
buddy system will be utilized whenever possible while work is being performed within the
exclusion zone.
3.20.1.1.1 Support Zone
The support zone will consist of the area outside of the exclusion zone. Eating, drinking
and smoking will be allowed only in this zone. All non-essential personnel and persons not
directly involved in site work activities shall remain in the support zone at all times.
3.20.1.2 Entry-Exit Procedures
All personnel will enter and exit the exclusion zone through the support zone.
The implementation of work zones facilitates compliance with the remedial objectives.
Therefore, exclusion, contamination reduction and support zones will be created at the work site.
Movement of personnel and equipment between the zones will be controlled. This physical
arrangement will keep the contaminants within the specified areas, reduce the potential for the
contamination to spread, minimize potential contamination of workers and communicate the
individual site control to all personnel at the site.
27
